Annual I-75 Yarn Crawl - August 8 - 13

I-75 Yarn CrawlMark your calendars for the Annual I-75 Yarn Crawl. This year the crawl will be from August 8 -13. Hank carries the complete line of Shibui, Woolfolk, and Brooklyn Tweed as well as an extensive variety of Malabrigo, Madelinetosh, Swans Island, Frabjous Fibers Wonderland, and Rowan. We are also a select stockist of Wollmeise. 

During the yarn crawl passport holders will receive an extra 15% off on Hank's already reduced sale yarn and patterns and a free Hank souvenir project bag with any $30 purchase (while supplies last and limit 1 bag per customer). INTRODUCTION TO KNITTING    Level: Beginner    Fee: $45 + supplies

Intro to KnitThis class is for those who have NEVER knit before. In this 3 session introduction to knitting, first-time knitters will learn the long-tail cast-on, the knit and purl stitches, and how to bind off in both. You will make a sampler scarf to practice your stitches and improve your skills.

BEGINNING SOCKS      Level: Advanced Beginner      Fee: $45 + supplies
Beginning SocksLearn to knit a beautiful pair of socks! Sock instruction helps develop / enhance skills in working smoothly with double pointed needles, turning heels with short rows, making gussets, picking up stitches, shaping with mirrored decreases, and finishing with the Kitchener Stitch for a seamless toe. If you want to expand your knitting skills while making a small, portable project, this is the class for you. You must know how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.

INTRODUCTION TO CROCHET    Level: Beginner    Fee: $45 + supplies

Intro to CrochetIf you’ve ever wanted to learn crochet or want to embellish your knitted projects, this introductory class will give you the skills to accomplish your goals. Learn to crochet a sampler cowl as we introduce you to chain, slip, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet stitches.

Finishing Finishing classes are available one on one. Bring a project to finish as we help you work through picking up stitches, adding button bands, blocking, & seaming as your pattern requires. Knitalongs (KAL)


Every month our staff members choose projects to knit in the shop. We invite you to join in the fun! Knitalong registration is free with the purchase of supplies.

NilaThis lapped-front turtleneck pullover in Shaker rib effortlessly blends comfort and simple style. The boxy silhouette is offset by the inverted V of the open fronts, which grow gradually through decorative increases within the rib structure until they cross over the heart. Modified drop sleeves complete the roomy fit. The Shaker rib is crisply defined in Arbor and creates a fabric with drape and movement. Tubular edge treatments ensure elasticity and durability in the single-rib cuffs, hem, and turtleneck band. Leafy Lace Top

Choose a pastel sheath or slip dress to wear under Tobita’s charming lace top to accentuate the delicacy of the allover bobble and leaf pattern. Knitting begins at the wider lower edge; gentle waist shaping moves up to the bodice, with a switch to smaller needles for a snugger fit to the shoulders. It’s trimmed with garter stitch at the lower edge, armholes and neck. The delicate crocheted placket buttons and open sleeve edging makes this a summer top that can work for a night out or a dressed down day at the beach. Tamdou With a dash of whimsy and a pinch of practicality, Tamdou is a cosy asymmetrical triangular shawl that’s perfect for showing off bright colors. Latticed lace sections are interspersed with garter stitch stripes, and a splash of picot in a contrast color binds off the edge. Tegna Tegna is knitted seamlessly from the bottom up, starting with the slightly flared lace hem, then working up to the armholes, where you separate your work and work the front and back flat. Knit in fingering weight yarn, this design works equally well in wool, a wool/mohair blend or linen. Instructions are given to customize the body and sleeve lengths to your preference. Do you a group of friends who knit or crochet? Schedule a group outing to get to know Hank! As part of your shopping experience, we will provide a personal shopper for your group of 5 or more. This can be arranged during regular store hours, or as an after hours personal shopping experience. Call us to set the date!

CLASS POLICIES:

  • Classes must be paid for at registration.
  • Store credit will be given if cancelled 72 hours prior to the start of class.
  • No refunds will be given for missed classes.
  • Classes start promptly, so please be on time.
  • Please silence your cell phone during class.
  • All yarns used in the classes must be purchased from Hank unless the class is set up to use yarn from your stash.
  • Supplies must be purchased prior to the start of class.
  • Class size is limited.
  • Space in class is limited to registered students. This means no guests (adult or child).
  • Classes may need to be postponed & rescheduled in case of bad weather.
