NASREEN KAL Level: Advanced beginner Fee: Free with purchase of supplies

nasreenThe front and back of Nasreen are worked separately and seamed. Each piece is made of a vertical panel worked from the bottom up, a diagonal panel worked by picking up stitches along the edge of the first panel and a neckband worked by picking up stitches
at the top edge. The front and back are then joined at the shoulders with a 3-needle cast off and the sides are seamed. Stitches are then picked up around the armholes for a neat finish.
While the ribbing and neck band are worked in a single colour, the garter stitch panels are worked in two-colour stripes by changing colour every 2 rows.

LYSA KAL Level: Intermediate Fee: Free with purchase of supplies

LysaLysa (a Swedish verb for light) is a round-yoked pullover with a simple, modern colorwork pattern. The twinkling stripes encircling the yoke and sleeve cuffs provide endless possibilities for play with color, and are a perfect way for an adventurous beginner to dip his or her toe into the colorwork pool. The sweater is constructed from the top down, in the round, with (optional) short rows lowering the front collar in a flattering way and subtle waist shaping providing for a nice fit.

Both engaging and surprisingly intuitive to knit, Orthogonal’s straightforward, top-down construction and integrated garter stitch trims keep the focus on the mesmerizing interplay of simple lace charts. Simple eyelet motifs combine and recombine in unexpected ways, creating an overall pattern that seems much more than the sum of its parts.
